IT Asset Disposal and Recycling in London
Redeploy collects and disposes of business IT across London, and in Bournemouth & Poole. We wipe the data, resell what still has value, and recycle the rest. Every collection comes with a waste transfer note, and every wiped drive gets an erasure report.
We work with IT managers, office and facilities managers, and insolvency practitioners. Jobs range from a cupboard of old laptops to a whole floor of desks, screens and servers. For our wider IT clearance service, see IT asset clearance.

What we take
- Laptops, desktops, monitors and docking stations
- Servers, storage, switches, routers and firewalls
- Phones and tablets, wiped before reuse
- Printers, copiers and scanners
- AV: screens, projectors, video walls and meeting room kit. See AV decommissioning
- Cables, keyboards, mice and other peripherals
- Hazardous WEEE: CRT monitors, fluorescent tubes and UPS batteries, with the right paperwork
If the IT is part of a bigger move, we can clear the furniture and the rest of the office in the same visit. See office clearances.
How it works
- 1Tell us what you have. A rough list or a few photos is enough. Tell us the address, the floor and how access works.
- 2Get a quote. We price the job and tell you if any of the kit is likely to be worth something.
- 3Book a date. We agree a time that suits you and your building, including evenings and weekends by arrangement.
- 4We collect. Our team packs and carries everything out. You do not need to bring it down to the street.
- 5Data is dealt with. Drives, phones and tablets are wiped with approved data-erasure software, or standard hard drives are shredded.
- 6Reuse, resale, recycling. Working kit is tested and resold. The rest is stripped and recycled.
- 7Paperwork. You get the waste transfer note on the day. Wiping can be done the same day if you need it, or within about two weeks. Erasure reports follow once it is done.
Data security and erasure reports
Formatting a drive or doing a factory reset does not remove the data. It can often be recovered. Under UK GDPR, you stay responsible for that data until it is properly destroyed.
We deal with it in one of two ways:
- Wiping. We wipe drives, including SSDs and other flash media, with approved data-erasure software. Each drive gets an erasure report showing its serial number and the result. A wiped device can be safely reused or resold.
- Shredding. We shred standard hard drives only. SSDs and flash media are always wiped. Standard hard drives that are faulty or must be destroyed under your policy can be shredded. We can do this on site, so they never leave your building intact. See hard drive shredding.
If you want nothing to leave the building with data on it, we can wipe on site as well. Otherwise we wipe at our facility in Christchurch, Dorset. Drives travel there sealed and tracked, with a chain of custody record. More on our data destruction page.
The paperwork you get
A good disposal leaves two trails. One shows the equipment was handled properly as waste. The other shows the data was destroyed. One document does not cover both.
- Waste transfer note with every collection. Keep it for two years.
- Hazardous waste paperwork for items such as CRTs, fluorescent tubes and UPS batteries.
- Erasure report for every drive we wipe.
- Certificate of destruction for every hard drive we shred, listed by serial number.
- Itemised asset list as standard, with the serial number of every item we collect.
Reuse and resale: getting value back
Business IT often still has value. Laptops, screens, servers and networking kit that are not very old can be resold, and we will often pay for them. That money is set against the cost of the job, and on some jobs it covers it.
What affects value:
- Age and spec. Newer, higher-spec kit is worth more.
- Condition. Working, with chargers and no cracked screens.
- Locks. Devices still tied to an MDM, Apple or Google account, or with a BIOS password, often cannot be resold. Release them before collection if you can.
- Quantity. Batches of the same model are easier to resell.
Very old equipment may have no resale value. We will tell you straight. Anything that cannot be reused is recycled, and we strongly avoid landfill. See selling used IT and IT recycling.
Collections in London buildings
London collections are mostly about access. Offices are on upper floors, goods lifts are shared, loading bays need booking and parking is tight.
We sort that with your building manager before the day. We book the goods lift and loading bay, bring the right number of people and vehicles, and work evenings and weekends by arrangement so we do not get in the way of your staff or other tenants.
For a sense of scale, we cleared a 140-person office on the sixth floor of The Shard over one weekend, using a single goods lift. Six people, three days and seven lorry runs took out the IT, furniture, AV and kitchen equipment.
Who we help

IT asset disposal FAQs
What is IT asset disposal?
IT asset disposal, often called ITAD, means getting rid of business IT safely. Data is wiped or destroyed, working equipment is reused or resold, and the rest is recycled, with paperwork for each step.
Is a factory reset enough before disposal?
No. A factory reset or format often leaves data that can be recovered. Drives should be wiped with approved data-erasure software, with a report for each one, or shredded.
What paperwork will we get?
A waste transfer note with every collection, hazardous waste paperwork where needed, an erasure report for every wiped drive, a certificate of destruction for any hard drives we shred, and an itemised asset list with serial numbers.
Will you pay for our old IT?
Often, yes. Working equipment that is not very old usually has resale value, and we will often pay for it or set it against the cost of the job. Very old kit may have no value.
Do we need to bring everything to the ground floor?
No. Our team packs and carries it out from where it is. We book goods lifts and loading bays with your building manager.
Can you collect out of hours?
Yes. Evenings and weekends are available by arrangement.
Do you take CRT monitors, fluorescent tubes and UPS batteries?
Yes. These are hazardous WEEE. We take them with the right paperwork.
