Data wiping or hard drive shredding: choosing the right method
There are two ways to destroy data securely, and we offer both.
Secure data wiping (data erasure)
Software-based sanitisation with approved data-erasure software, with erasure reports. It overwrites the storage media so the data can't be read back, but the hardware can still be reused or resold. Hard drive shredding
Physical shredding of HDDs, SSDs and solid-state media, for drives that are faulty, can't be wiped, or where your security policy requires physical destruction. We can shred drives at your premises, or collect them securely under chain of custody and shred them at our facility.

If data can't leave your building, we bring the destruction to you. We offer on-site hard drive shredding and on-site data wiping at your premises, so data is destroyed before any equipment leaves your site.

We shred hard drives and SSDs at your premises. Because it happens on your site, your team can watch the drives being destroyed, and each one is logged against its serial number for your certificate of destruction.
On-site data wiping
Drives that are going to be reused or resold can be wiped on site, with approved data-erasure software and erasure reports, before the hardware is collected.
If you'd rather not host the work, we can collect drives securely under chain of custody and wipe or shred them at our facility instead.

Scope the job. Tell us the number and type of devices and where they are.

How much does data destruction cost?
There are no fixed prices because every job is different, but the cost is often lower than people expect. When drives are wiped instead of shredded, the hardware usually keeps its resale value. Unless the equipment is very old, we'll often pay for it, which offsets the cost of data destruction and sometimes covers it entirely. Quotes are free and no-obligation.

What is a certificate of data destruction?
It's a formal record that specific devices or drives have been sanitised or destroyed, usually listing serial numbers, the method and the date. Redeploy issues a serialised certificate of destruction for every device we process, giving you a full audit trail for compliance and regulatory records.
Is wiping a hard drive enough?
Deleting files or reformatting isn't enough, because the data can often be recovered. Secure data wiping with erasure reports overwrites the media so the data can't be read back, and it's documented. If a drive is faulty, or your policy requires it, we shred it instead.
Can an SSD be wiped securely?
SSDs store data differently from traditional hard drives, so they need a sanitisation method designed for solid-state media. We wipe SSDs with secure data wiping and erasure reports, and shred any that can't be wiped.
How much does hard drive shredding cost?
